The International Court of Justice (ICJ) concludes its six-day hearings into the legality of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967.

UNRWA was last able to deliver aid to northern Gaza on January 23, says UN agency chief Philippe Lazzarini as he describes the “looming famine” as a “man-made disaster”.

Israel is due to report to the ICJ on Monday on the progress it has made in implementing the top UN court’s last month’s order of preventing genocide in Gaza. This case was brought by South Africa.

Netanyahu says military operation in Rafah “will be delayed somewhat” if a captives deal is reached, but “it will happen” regardless.

At least 29,782 people have been killed and 70,043 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The revised death toll in Israel from the October 7 attacks stands at 1,139.

ICJ: Israeli occupation an ‘affront to international justice’ – League of Arab States

The organization’s representative, Abdel Hakim El Rifai, describes Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories as the “last oppressive, expansionist apartheid settler colonial occupation still standing in the 21st century”.

“This prolonged occupation is an affront to international justice. The failure to bring it to an end has led to the current horrors perpetrated against the Palestinian people, amounting to genocide.

“There can be no moral or juridical justification for occupying lands, killing, terrorising and displacing their populations.

“Only the rule of law, not the prevailing law of the jungle, will pave the way to peace in the whole region.

“Ending the occupation is the gateway to peaceful coexistence”.

Israeli strikes target Lebanon’s Baalbek for first time since Gaza war

At least two simultaneous Israeli strikes have hit around the Lebanese city of Baalbek in the first bombardment of eastern Lebanon since regional hostilities erupted following the start of the war in Gaza, security sources confirmed to news agencies.

The Israeli military told Reuters it was “currently striking Hezbollah terror targets deep inside Lebanon” but provided no further details. There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah.
