Qatar and Jordan say that Israel is aiming to “impose starvation” on Gaza by tightening its siege, and cutting the only remaining power line to the Gaza Strip, used to operate a desalination plant.
Hamas says Israeli troops are still occupying the border area between Gaza and Egypt, preventing outside help from reaching Gaza, despite Israel saying it would leave the Philadelphi Corridor under the ceasefire deal.
Yemen’s Houthis say they will act on their threat to resume attacking Israel-linked ships in the Red Sea if Israel doesn’t lift the siege by today.
Gaza’s Health Ministry has confirmed 48,467 Palestinian deaths in Israel’s war on Gaza, with 111,913 people wounded. Gaza’s Government Media Office has updated its death toll to at least 61,709, saying thousands of Palestinians missing under the rubble are presumed dead. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, attacks and more than 200 were taken captive.

Israeli army says it has bombed ‘military sites’ in Syria

As we previously reported, Israeli jets bombed the vicinity of the villages of Jabab and Izraa near Deraa in the south of Syria on Monday night, according to Syrian state media.
The Israeli military says it carried out those strikes, claiming to have targeted “command headquarters and military sites containing combat equipment and military vehicles belonging to the Syrian regime”.

Advocacy group says record anti-Muslim incidents in US, amid Israel’s war on Gaza

Discrimination and attacks against American Muslims and Arabs rose by 7.4 percent in 2024 due to heightened Islamophobia during US ally Israel’s war in Gaza, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has said.
CAIR said it recorded 8,658 anti-Muslim and anti-Arab complaints in 2024, the highest number since it began publishing data in 1996, in its annual Civil Rights Report, released today.
The most complaints were recorded in employment discrimination, 15.4 percent; followed by immigration and asylum, 14.8 percent, education discrimination, 9.8 percent, and hate crimes, 7.5 percent, according to the report.
CAIR also detailed police and university crackdowns on pro-Palestinian protests and encampments on college campuses.
“For the second year in a row, the US-backed Gaza genocide drove a wave of Islamophobia in the United States,” CAIR said.
The report comes after an Illinois jury last month found a man guilty of a hate crime in the October 2023 fatal stabbing of a six-year-old Palestinian American boy.
It’s just one of many alarming incidents since late 2023, including the attempted drowning of a three-year-old Palestinian American girl in Texas, the shooting of three Palestinian students in Vermont, and the Florida shooting of two Israeli visitors whom a suspect mistook to be Palestinian.
Most recently, the US government has alarmed rights advocates with the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian graduate student who was involved in pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.
