‘No signs of attacks in Beirut’ as blasts heard across Lebanon

By Ali Hashem

Reporting from Beirut, Lebanon

For now, all that we know is that there were sounds heard across Lebanon, but there are no signs of attacks in Beirut or the southern suburbs.

There is a lot of speculation about whether they are launches from above Lebanese skies or from warships across the Lebanese waters. But nothing has been confirmed.

It’s very early in the morning, and we have not been able to get any information on this.

However, these sounds were heard widely. And, of course, it just adds to the concerns, because Lebanon is ground zero for this escalation. And now, with the Iran-Israel exchange of missiles and attacks, there are concerns of a possible return to the escalation in the suburbs of Beirut.

These are speculations for now, given the fact that the April 8 ceasefire has come to an end in a way. There’s now a situation of a war. The Iranians attacked; the Israelis are attacking; the Iranians are promising to respond. So Lebanon is in the middle of a war.

There is no statement by Hezbollah regarding these attacks for the moment. We have not heard from any of its leaders or any of its MPs.
