The United States military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) earlier launched attacks “against multiple targets in Iran”, saying the strikes were in “self-defense”, as well as in response to “Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression”.

Iranians unsurprised by US attack; Tehran retaliates against US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain

By Mohamed Vall

Reporting from Tehran, Iran

Iran hasn’t taken the US strikes without retaliation.

They have struck, according to the IRGC and army command, against several locations, several US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, in particular.

So that is another night of fighting between the two countries, even though yesterday both of them announced that they had ended their strikes against the other side in terms of the exchange of attacks over the downing of an Apache helicopter.

So tonight’s wave of attacks has become a sort of surprise to international public opinion.

But Iranians, in particular, said… they haven’t been surprised.

They have been waiting and expecting a surprise American attack, particularly when there is talk about negotiations, and even though the Americans are the ones pushing for more negotiations and the immediate signing of a peace deal between the two countries.

UN chief warns of widening Middle East crisis

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that the Middle East is being pulled into a deepening crisis, with far-reaching consequences.

“The Middle East is being pulled deeper into crisis & the consequences reach far beyond the region,” he said in a post on X.

“This week has brought wider attacks and further deterioration where the ceasefire is more like a lesser-fire,” he said.

“We should not minimize the risks of lesser fire becoming full fire,” he added, emphasising that “all parties must work towards a diplomatic settlement. No more attacks. No more excuses.”

Water restored to residents in Iran’s Sirik area after US attack on infrastructure

The water utility company in Iran’s Hormozgan region has said that water has been restored to homes after facilities were damaged in a US attack on Tuesday night, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.

Water services were restored to homes in the city of Kohstak and villages in the Bamani district in Hormozgan’s Sirik county in less than 12 hours, ISNA reports.

Iran’s West Asia News Agency (WANA) reported that two concrete water storage reservoirs were damaged in the US attacks.

A New York Times analysis found that the US may have hit the tanks with precision-guided munitions.

International humanitarian law classifies water infrastructure as civilian property, which is not deemed a legitimate target during war.

Yemen’s Houthis warn US that Iran attacks threaten global economy

The Houthi-run Foreign Ministry in Yemen has warned that ongoing US military strikes against Iran risk triggering a wider regional conflict with severe global consequences.

“The continuation of US aggression against Iran will not achieve the desired objectives, nor will it succeed in breaking the will of the Iranian people or undermining their resilience,” the ministry said.

Military action against Iran will only “lead to further entanglement and deepen America’s strategic predicament, with decisive failure being its outcome”, it said.

“The continued aggression carries serious consequences for global supply chains, international trade, oil and energy markets, threatening global economic stability,” it added.

‘Continuous string of attacks’ as dozens of sites in Iran hit by US

By Mohamed Vall

Reporting from Tehran, Iran

We can talk about almost a dozen cities and provinces that have been hit overnight in two or maybe even three waves of attacks.

The first one was the widest-ranging and included Kish and Sirik, Minab and Bandar Abbas.

Activities were also in the central Isfahan area and west of Tehran. Karaj has been hit twice in the second wave, actually, which was less than two hours ago.

Two explosions were reported in Karaj, west of Tehran.

So it was a continuous string of attacks across the country in two or three phases.
