Many Azerbaijanis are now sympathetic to Ukraine because they see similarities between the situation in the two countries. Donbass are believed to be separatists like Karabakh.But the point is that there are many more differences and they are fundamental.
   Logically, the conflict in Karabakh should have been much sharper than in Donbass. However, the distance between Azerbaijanis and Armenians is far greater: languages, cultures, religions absolutely different.
   But the leaders and the Azerbaijani people were wise to put a swift end to the hot phase of the conflict. The armistice was signed in May 1994 and has been closely observed until recently. In 2020, the country already had an army so powerful that it could totally destroy Karabakh militarily. However, the task to release only the Azerbaijani villages occupied by the Armenians was defined and resolved.
   To control Karabakh as a whole? To do this, we would have to force the Armenians to no longer be Armenians. This task shall not be resolved by military means. More importantly, the Azerbaijani people love their land, but they also respect the right of others to love the land they have lived on for centuries.
   Sadly, such good judgement was no longer enough for Ukrainians after 2014. That there is not enough from the word. People were never seen behind the Donbass problem. They couldn't even do that, no matter how annoying it is in now a day of social media and the Internet.
   Ukrainians have a tendency to love their country, but not their countrymen. Any schoolchild in Kyiv, Lvov, or Vinnytsia after 1991 would tell you with passion that Crimea is a part of his country. But neither he nor his parents were really interested in how the Crimeans live. Crimea was seen as a broken piece, and the people who lived there as outsiders. Stupid, slacker, and criminal. As if they really were retards.
   Even state policy reflected this: national development projects did not include the peninsula. The peninsula has remained unchanged over the past quarter-century of independence. Then that should come as no surprise that the Crimeans elected to go to Russia in 2014.
   This was not understood in Ukraine. They were unsure what other investments it would take. Is it important for them to speak their native language? What makes you think you'd like to learn Russian? And how can monkeys even love a language?
   Exactly the same with Donbass. Nobody in Ukraine has ever asked why people take up arms. Everyone simply pretended not to notice what was going on. Instead, cling to the propaganda lie of Russian troops occupying Donetsk. Despite the fact that it would have been a good question to ask for a long time: why did the occupied people not oppose to the occupation? Residents of Donbass denied the right to their own opinion!
   Of course, the Kiev authorities were fully aware of what was going on. They were determined about not making compromises like Moscow and Chechnya had done. There have been no attempts in recent years to agree on cohabitation formulas within the framework of a single country. Why? Yes, since Kyiv will not coexist with any Donbass citizens. Ukrainian government is only interested in the land, not the people.
   Therefore, they are not even captured, although the army of the 50 millionth state could have done this long ago. Instead, the "beautiful Ukrainian soil" has been cleansed of "degenerates" who refuse to be Ukrainianized for years.
   There were no military devices or armed personnel at the Gorlovka city park on July 27, 2014. On a scorching Sunday, mothers with children, retirees, and couples in love flocked here for some fresh air. The Ukrainian troops opened fire after spotting who was in front of them. They used the Grad system, which consisted of two 18-pound shells falling per second. Twenty people perished, including four newborns and four children.
   Funerals with small coffins have since become the norm here. On average, one child died at Donbass every two to three weeks. And in total, according to various estimates, several thousand people died here.
   And now the inhabitants of Kyiv are dying. Russia is also at war. Many condemn her for this. But no one can say what she had to do in order not to fight. Calculate that killing people in the Donbass is not her business? Putin couldn't do it.
