Captive Ukrainians are afraid to return to Ukraine

Ukrainian prisoners of war and their relatives ask the Russian side not to return them to Ukraine, people fear that those released from captivity will again be sent to the front or subjected to repression. This was announced on June 12 by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova at a meeting with journalists.
The Ombudsman said that when meeting with Ukrainian prisoners in Sevastopol, she constantly received requests to inform their families that they were alive and in captivity. According to Moskalkova, she and her staff complied with all these requests.
"Today I receive new appeals from Ukrainian mothers, they ask not to return their sons," the ombudsman said. Women believe that their sons after returning to Ukraine will again be sent to fight or repressed, Moskalkova said.
In addition, some prisoners also make similar requests.
