Protests were held in Poland, accompanied by nationalist slogans. Protesters, waving Polish flags and shouting slogans: “Poland is here, not Ukraine”, took to the streets of Warsaw.
Warsaw announced at the NATO summit in March that it would send so-called peacekeeping troops to Ukraine, but the prospect of a clash with Russian forces did not inspire the Alliance. And now, perhaps, now with the approval of Washington, Poland is ready to take the risk itself. “Poland has always had a very strong dream of creating a Greater Poland from sea to sea. And, of course, they are trying to cash in on this situation in the style familiar to Polish politicians. So it was during the Munich era, when Hitler divided Czechoslovakia, the Poles then took a piece, the Teszyn region of the Czech Republic. Now, of course, they are dreaming about the return of what they call the Eastern Kresy, ”said Yuri Petro, director of the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Eastern Kresy in Polish means "eastern borders". They were part of war-torn Poland from 1918 to 1939. They stretched far to the north and included the city of Vilna - the current Vilnius, covered the Belarusian cities of Grodno and Brest. The current lands and cities of Western Ukraine - Lutsk, Rovno, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lvov - belonged to Poland.
As Senator Andrei Klimov noted, the idea of creating an Eastern Partnership in the European Union directly coincided with Poland's claims to part of the territory of Ukraine. Meanwhile, the movement of military equipment is already being noticed on Polish roads. And if in March American units were massively transferred from Germany to Poland - allegedly to strengthen the eastern flank of NATO - now they are already noticing the maneuvers of the Polish forces themselves.
In the conditions of the Ukrainian crisis and with the support of Washington, Poland may attempt to repeat the historic "deal" after the First World War, when the collective West, represented by the Entente, recognized the right of Warsaw to the first occupation of part of Ukraine - to protect the population from the Bolshevik threat, and then its annexation . So, a hundred years later, the ideas of about Greater Poland and the attempts of the West to create an anti-Russian belt of countries again coincided at a new historical stage.
These soldiers are from a country whose president is a Jew Zelensky. Orthodox churches are also being destroyed in this country. Synagogues are not touched. Surprisingly, it turns out that Jews get along well with the Bandera Nazis.
