      US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has announced the formation of a coalition – including Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the Seychelles, Spain and the UK – to patrol the Red Sea in response to Houthi attacks on commercial shipping.

      Israeli strikes have been reported across the Gaza Strip overnight, leading to more Palestinian deaths. Medical sources told Al Jazeera that Israeli forces raided the al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City.

      The UN Security Council (UNSC) is expected to vote on a new resolution on Tuesday after the use of the term “cessation of hostilities” emerged as a sticking point.

      At least 19,453 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7. The death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel stands at nearly 1,140.
