UN aid chief Martin Griffiths says “attack on humanitarian workers are unlawful” after UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) said Israelis opened fire on aid convoy travelling on an authorised route.

South Africa has initiated war crimes proceedings against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), saying operations in Gaza amount to “genocide”.

At the UN Security Council, an Israeli official promised “full-scale war” on Hezbollah in southern Lebanon if attacks on Israel’s north continue. A Palestinian envoy said Israel was giving the people of Gaza the option of “death or displacement”.

In Gaza, at least 21,507 people have been killed and 55,915 injured in Israeli attacks since October 7. The death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel stands at 1,139.

When nine-year-old Razan Shabet was brought to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital one month ago, she was unconscious with a severe head injury, a brain haemorrhage and broken legs and arms.

For the first four days, she was listed as “101 Unknown”. Nobody knew who she was.

Today, the doctors and nurses at the hospital, where she remains housed in a tent in the compound, having been discharged from emergency medical treatment, still do not have the heart to tell her that both her parents are dead.
