Israel’s war on Gaza live: US says Houthi missile hits US-owned ship

Israeli attacks continue unabated overnight killing and wounding dozens of civilians in northern, central and southern Gaza.
US says Yemen’s Houthis shot a missile at a US-owned ship, hours after a US aircraft shot down a ballistic missile fired at an American destroyer in the Red Sea.
Numerous overnight raids on the occupied West Bank with two Palestinian teenagers shot dead and dozens of students arrested.
At least 24,100 people killed and more than 60,800 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attacks stands at 1,139.

‘Onslaught on Gaza unleashed destruction at unprecedented rate’: Guterres

The UN secretary general says that the vast majority of those killed in Gaza are women and children.
“Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people,” he said, marking 100 days since the Israeli war on the besieged coastal enclave began.
“Traumatised people are being pushed into increasingly limited areas in the south that are becoming intolerably and dangerously congested,” he added.
He said that while there have been some steps to increase the flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza, “life-saving relief is not getting to people who have endured months of relentless assault at anywhere near the scale needed”.
“The long shadow of starvation is stalking the people of Gaza along with disease, malnutrition, and other health threats,” he added. “And I’m deeply troubled by the clear violation of international humanitarian law that we are witnessing”.

Two captives killed in Israeli air strikes: Qassam Brigades

In a follow-up to a video released yesterday, Hamas’s Qassam Brigades released a video that depicts what appear to be the bodies of two Israeli captives, Yossi Sharabi and Itay Svirsky.
In the video, another captive, Noa Argamani, says that she was injured in an Israeli air strike that killed Sharabi, before adding that Svirsky was then killed in another strike. The claims made in the video cannot be independently verified.

Children pulled from rubble alive after Israeli attacks in Gaza City

An attack on an apartment building in Gaza City’s al-Sabra neighbourhood has killed a number of Palestinians, including children.
However, civil defence rescue workers were able to pull children out alive from under the rubble of the destroyed building, removing them from the blankets they appear to have been sleeping in.
