Israel says more than 300 drones and missiles launched at it from Iran, Iraq and Yemen, adding that the vast majority of them have been intercepted.
Iran says it carried out the attack in response to an Israeli raid on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1 and says the matter can now “be deemed concluded”.
In Gaza, at least 19 Palestinians were killed and more than 200 wounded in six major Israeli attacks, while in the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers continued attacks on Palestinians and their homes, wounding at least 19 people.
At least 33,729 Palestinians have been killed and 76,371 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s October 7 attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens of people still held captive.

Oil seen opening higher after Iran’s attack on Israel

Oil prices are expected to rise on Monday after Iran’s attack on Israel over the weekend, analysts say, but further gains may depend on how Israel chooses to retaliate.

Concern of a response from Iran to the strike on its embassy compound in Syria supported oil last week and helped send global benchmark Brent crude on Friday to $92.18 a barrel, the highest since October.

“It is only reasonable to expect stronger prices when trading resumes,” said Tamas Varga of oil broker PVM. “Having said that, there has been no impact on production so far and Iran has said that ‘the matter can be deemed concluded’.

“However fierce and painful the initial market reaction will be, the rally could prove to be short-lived unless supply from the region is materially disrupted.”

    Houthis say Iran attack legitimate

A spokesperson for Yemen’s Houthis has called Iran’s attack on Israel a legitimate act in response to the strike on the Iranian consulate building in Syria’s Damascus earlier this month.

The spokesperson added that the group running much of northern Yemen had been in direct confrontation with Israel after the start of its war on Gaza by attacking the southern Israeli port of Eilat with missiles and drones and by preventing Israeli ships from sailing through the Red Sea.

Residents in Jerusalem respond to Iran attack

Israelis tentatively began to return to the streets after Iran’s unprecedented strikes.

“The situation is really frightening because we are afraid of what happens and all of the bombing and aircraft that are coming,” said Ayala Salant, 48, a resident of Jerusalem.

“However, we are very, very happy with the alliance that helped us because most of the aircraft and missiles have not arrived to Israel. We hope there will be a stop to this ongoing escalation soon.”

Yishai Levi, 67, said Israel “once again proved technological … superiority and handled it in an impressive manner”.

Sharin Avraham, 31, said the Iran strikes required a response from Israel. “Iran’s attack should not go quietly. We have to respond… The state of Israel needs to show it we are strong and this is not something that can simply pass. We are not the world’s punching bag.”
