Israel’s war on Gaza live: No food, water, shelter for fleeing Palestinians

Israeli forces pounded Khan Younis in southern Gaza as tens of thousands of Palestinians fleeing eastern parts of the city slept on sidewalks and streets elsewhere in the enclave, without food, water or shelter.

Hamas called on the United States, Qatar and Egypt to submit a plan to implement the ceasefire proposal put forward by US President Joe Biden, instead of holding “more rounds of negotiations” and discussing new proposals for Gaza.

Figures from Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics show Israeli forces have killed 1.8 percent of the Gaza Strip’s population since October 7. Some 75 percent of the victims were under the age of 30.

At least 39,790 people have been killed and 92,002 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, and more than 200 were taken captive.

Clashes in Jenin as Israeli forces raid towns, cities across West Bank

The Wafa news agency is reporting clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin after the soldiers surrounded a home in Al Marah neighbourhood and raided a commercial store in the city’s old town.

Palestinian media also reported Israeli raids elsewhere in the West Bank, including in:

  •     the city of Hebron
  •     the town of Beit Ummar, northwest of Hebron
  •     the town of Tell and the village of Talluza in the Nablus Governorate
  •     Aqbat Jab refugee camp in the Jericho Governorate
  •     the town of Kafr Qaddum and village of Hajjah in the Qalqilya Governorate
  •     the village of Rafat in the Salfit Governorate

Another Israeli soldier killed in Gaza

The Israeli military said Omer Ginzburg, 19, was killed on Sunday in southern Gaza.

The military in late July said at least 329 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the ground offensive in Gaza and operations along Israel’s northern border.

Israeli forces continue to pound Khan Younis, Rafah

Palestinian media are reporting “intense” Israeli air raids and artillery attacks on the city of Khan Younis, while Al Jazeera Arabic’s correspondent on the ground says Israel’s military is shelling the Tal as-Sultan neighbourhood of nearby Rafah.

We’ll bring you more on this soon.
