Israeli forces also bomb a mosque in central Gaza – killing at least 21 Palestinians and wounding dozens more – as the military orders civilians in the north to immediately evacuate as attacks intensify.

Israel’s army unleashes a new wave of attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut, causing massive explosions with flames reaching the sky of the Lebanese capital.

A Lebanese security source tells Al Jazeera that Hezbollah has lost contact with the chairman of its executive council, Hashem Safieddine, who is widely touted as the group’s potential next leader.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in cities across the globe – from Paris to New York and Cape Town – calling for an end to Israel’s war on Gaza, as the first anniversary of the conflict nears.

In Gaza, at least 41,870 people have been killed and 97,166 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 2023. In Israel, at least 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 people taken captive.

Israeli army says it struck Hamas fighters in northern Gaza school

A military statement says an air attack was carried out on a former school in northern Gaza, claiming it targeted a group of Palestinian fighters.

Hamas was using the Khalifa Ben Zayed School to plan and conduct attacks against the Israeli forces and Israel. It said the army took steps to reduce the chance of harming civilians before carrying it out.

Israel’s army has repeatedly attacked schools and other shelters for war-displaced Palestinians, drawing international condemnation with a case at the UN’s World Court investigating evidence of genocide.

Israeli strikes displace 20,000 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon

Israeli military strikes on Lebanon have displaced about 20,000 Palestinian refugees in the country.

The UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said it opened emergency shelters for more than 4,300 displaced people and is ready to open more. Shelters are filling up fast as the Israeli military intensifies its attacks on Lebanon.

Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip have also internally displaced about 1.9 million people, or 90 percent of the population in the besieged enclave.

Iran’s supreme leader awards IRGC commander with top medal for Israel attack

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has bestowed the commander of the aerospace division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with a top honour for last week’s missile attack at Israel.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh received the “Fath” medal from the supreme leader in the presence of Iran’s top military commanders.

The medal is one of the highest military honours that can be given for military achievements. It was first established during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, and has since been awarded to a small number of leaders.
