Israeli forces continue to pound Lebanon, killing at least five people in central Beirut, as a Hezbollah missile wounds at least six people in Israel’s Tel Aviv.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledges to continue to “systematically operate” against Hezbollah even if a ceasefire deal is reached, as US envoy Amos Hochstein travels to Beirut for truce talks.

In Gaza, medical sources say Israeli attacks killed at least 50 Palestinians on Monday, and local authorities say they are cracking down on looters who targeted aid trucks amid severe food shortages.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 43,922 Palestinians and wounded 103,898 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day, and more than 200 were taken captive.

In Lebanon, at least 3,516 people have been killed and 14,929 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.

US House to vote again on anti-NGO bill that could target pro-Palestine groups

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said the legislation, dubbed the “nonprofit killer” bill, could return to the floor on Tuesday or Wednesday for a new vote that would only require a simple majority after the bill failed to reach a two-thirds majority last week.

“This act … threatens to chill legitimate criticism of Israel and advocacy for Palestinian human rights while undermining free speech, due process, and nonprofit independence,” CAIR said in a statement.

The Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, or HR 9495, would grant the Department of the Treasury broad authority to revoke the tax-exempt status of nonprofits deemed to be supporting “terrorism”.

Last week 256 representatives voted in favour of the bill, including 204 Republicans. Among Democrats, 52 voted in favour of the bill while 144 voted against it.

Palestinian armed groups clash with Israeli forces in Jenin

Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic are reporting that Palestinian armed groups are clashing with Israeli forces in Jenin and the neighbouring Jenin refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank.

The Jenin Battalion of al-Quds Brigades said its fighters targeted an Israeli military bulldozer with an explosive device.

Two Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on north Gaza

The Palestinian Information Center is reporting that Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in attacks on northern Gaza.

Mahmoud Salim al-Madhoun was killed in an Israeli quadcopter attack in Beit Lahiya, while Ibrahim Muhammad al-Shafii was killed in a bombing of northern Gaza, the outlet reported.

It also said the body of another young man – Baraa Ayman Abu Asi – was found in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis and that he had been missing since last January.

The reports came as Israeli forces continue to pound Gaza, including bombing residential buildings in the southern city of Rafah.
