Lebanon’s military has accused Israeli forces of violating a ceasefire agreement that has brought a fragile truce in fighting with Hezbollah, and which is entering a third day.

      Medical sources in Gaza report that at least 42 people were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip as bombing intensifies and tanks advance into areas of the territory’s north and south.

      The United Nations has warned again that “famine is imminent” in Gaza, where more than two million people remain trapped with little food and no access to safe drinking water.

      Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 44,330 Palestinians and wounded 104,933 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day, and more than 200 were taken captive.

      In Lebanon, at least 3,961 people have been killed and 16,520 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.

      US surgeon says ‘hard to describe’ level of destruction in northern Gaza

      Dr Mohammed Khaleel, an orthopaedic spine surgeon from the United States who worked in Khan Younis in southern Gaza in April, said the situation in the north of the Palestinian territory is “incredibly dire”.

      The amount of devastation inflicted on northern Gaza is now “hard to describe”, he told Al Jazeera in an interview from Florida, in the US.

      “In the south, we witnessed a genocide. In the north, it’s a full-on Holocaust. So many buildings are destroyed. There is an incredible amount of death and destruction that is even beyond what we saw in the south back in April,” he said.

      At least 3 killed in latest Israeli attack on Gaza City

      The bodies of three deceased Palestinians have been recovered from the rubble following an Israeli attack on a house west of Gaza City, according to the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza.

      At least five more people have been injured in the attack, which struck on al-Wehda street in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighbourhood.

      The attack is the latest by the Israeli military on the area in recent hours, after fighter jets bombed the Nassar family home in the centre of Gaza City earlier tonight, killing at least three people.

      Israeli forces also bombed two homes in the vicinity of Abu Diya Bakery, west of Gaza City, killing at least four people, including women and children.
