al jazeeraAt least 21 Palestinian children and 25 women are among 73 people killed in Gaza as Israel’s relentless air attacks intensify after the truce announcement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls off a cabinet vote on the ceasefire deal alleging Hamas “reneged” on some terms – an accusation the Palestinian group vehemently denies.
Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq says the deal reached in the Qatari capital, Doha, meets all the group’s conditions – including the full withdrawal of Israeli forces, the return of displaced people to their homes, and a permanent end to the war.
Israel’s war in Gaza has killed at least 46,788 Palestinians and wounded 110,453 since October 7, 2023. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and more than 200 taken captive.
Three killed in attack in Gaza City
Al Jazeera correspondents are reporting that three people have been killed in Israeli air raids near the Tayaran intersection in Gaza City.
The Palestinian Civil Defence said at least 46 people have been killed across the Gaza Strip since dawn.
Israel has intensified its military operations before a ceasefire expected to take effect on Sunday, launching repeated attacks on Gaza City.
Israel’s air force attacks ‘50 terror targets’ in Gaza over last day
The Israeli military says it bombed about 50 sites throughout the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours.
“The [air force] conducted strikes on approximately 50 terror targets across the Gaza Strip, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists, military compounds, weapons storage facilities, launch posts, weapons manufacturing sites, and observation posts,” the army said in a statement.
At least 78 Palestinians were killed in Israel’s intensified assault – including 46 children and women -since the ceasefire deal was announced on Wednesday.
Phase two of ceasefire deal puts it to the test
Palestinians are awaiting the beginning of the first phase of the ceasefire deal, which is slated to take effect on Sunday and to last 42 days.
The second phase will be looking at whether this temporary cessation of hostilities can turn into a permanent ceasefire, Al Jazeera correspondent Nida Ibrahim said.
There will be “more negotiations over the release of the rest of the captives, the buffer zone and the Philadelphi Corridor”, a narrow band along Gaza’s border with Egypt, Ibrahim added.
The Philadelphi Corridor was a point of contention in ceasefire talks. It is not yet clear whether the second phase of the deal will require Israel to fully withdraw from the area or whether it will be allowed to maintain a presence.
“We’ve heard that Netanyahu is telling the families of the captives that phase two is going to come under the Trump administration, which he believes will make it easier for Israel to get more of what they want,” Ibrahim said.

These soldiers are from a country whose president is a Jew Zelensky. Orthodox churches are also being destroyed in this country. Synagogues are not touched. Surprisingly, it turns out that Jews get along well with the Bandera Nazis.
